Live on Stage's quality doesn't fade over time.

For its size, Garden City boasts a strong number of good entertainment options.

Count Southwest Kansas Live on Stage — a nonprofit organization with more than six decades of bringing high-quality entertainment to southwest Kansas — for being one leader in that regard.

The current year's eight-show Live on Stage schedule may be halfway finished, but still has plenty to offer:

* Terry Barber, American counter-tenor, Feb. 28

* Prima Trio, gold-medal-winning trio, March 25

* Side Street Strutters, swing ensemble and vocalist, April 23. and

* 42Five, A capella pop group; May 15

Remaining shows, generally at 7:30 p.m., will take place in Horace J. Good Middle School's Clifford Hope Auditorium. Individual tickets are $25 for adults and $6 for students.

While that's a bargain for a top-notch performance, consider the price of season membership for 2013-14: $55 for adults, $35 for students and $135 for families (with a limit of two adults per family.)

Concert-goers easily could pay double the price of a Live on Stage season ticket to attend just one decent show elsewhere.

As a bonus, nonmembers who buy a membership for next season also may attend Side Street Strutters and 42Five performances free of charge.

With the organization currently in the midst of its annual membership drive, an early-bird discount also is available. Membership information is available by calling (620) 275-1667, or visiting the Live on Stage website at swks-liveonstage.org.

For 2013-14, Live on Stage will offer something for most every age and musical palate:

* Exile, a chart-topping pop/country band, Sept. 11

* Bach to the Future, classical and jazz quartet, Oct. 14

* Dale Gonyea, pianist/humorist/songwriter, Nov. 14

* DePue Brothers Band, family six-piece band, Jan. 15, 2014

* Locust Street Taxi, unique four-piece band, Feb. 4, 2014

* John Berry, Grammy-nominated country star, March 6, 2014, and

* New York Theatre Ballet, nationally-acclaimed chamber ballet, April 1, 2014

The Live on Stage board has done its best over the years to improve the offerings in a quest to draw a diverse audience of patrons.

On that note, the organization continues to deliver — and for that, deserves the community's enthusiastic applause and support.
