J.D. "Jake" Brewer, 73, died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

J.D. "Jake" Brewer, 73, died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

He was born July 8, 1938, in Milton, to Carl O. and Helen G. Gawthrop Brewer.

On Oct. 4, 1958, he married Sharon L. Brooks in Milton. She survives.

A resident of Garden City since 1967, Brewer was a truck driver for Robinson Oil Co.

Other survivors include a son, John D. Brewer of Wichita; two daughters, Debra L. Yoder, Dodge City, and Susan L. Pfenninger, Garden City; a brother, Jack "Dutch" Brewer of Norwich; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ in Garden City. There will be no calling times at the funeral home.

Interment will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Eden Cemetery in Milton.

Memorials may be given to the Carpenter Place of Wichita, in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, 620 N. Main St., Garden City, KS 67846. Price and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
