Maria Ines Corpus, 86, died Monday, April 29, 2013, at her home in Garden City.

Maria Ines Corpus, 86, died Monday, April 29, 2013, at her home in Garden City.

She was born Aug. 26, 1926, in Nueva Rosita Coahuila, Mexico, to Miguel and Dolores Rodriguez Franco.

On March 15, 1941, she married Ramon Corpus in Mexico.

He died Oct. 15, 1998. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Miguel Corpus; a daughter, Maria Victoria Gaytan; a granddaughter; two brothers, Rafael Franco and Armando Franco; and two sisters, Juanita Valdez and Elisa Lozoya.

A Garden City resident since 1971, Mrs. Corpus worked for many years at the Garden City Hilton Inn. She enjoyed ironing, cooking, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons, Juan Corpus of Dodge City, Carlos A. Corpus of Amarillo, Texas, and Eric M. Corpus of Garden City; six daughters, Maria Cristina Santana of San Antonio, Texas, Maria Ines Camaraza, Juanita Garcia, CruzElia Corpus-Arellano and Prescilla Corpus, all of Garden City, and Carolina Corpus of Amarillo; three brothers, Ignacio Franco, Martin Franco and Lupe Franco, all of Garden City; a sister, Olivia Sandoval of Garden City; 54 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Rosary will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

Visitation hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
