Lavon D. Burrows, 74, of Garden City, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

Lavon D. Burrows, 74, of Garden City, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

She was born Jan. 13, 1939, in Garden City, to Marvin and Lena Sauer Swank. She graduated from Lakin High School in 1956.

Mrs. Burrows worked for many years as office manager at Farm Credit in Garden City. Prior to her work at Farm Credit, she also worked at Fishback Daycare, Gigot Irrigation and Brookover Feeders. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Garden City and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed playing bridge, yard work, playing golf, fishing with her father and collecting angels. She also loved KU sports, especially basketball, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include three children, Kirk and wife Tammy Burrows of Crescent City, Calif., Kim and husband Tom Gould of Denver, and Eric and wife Tiffany Burrows of Garden City; two brothers, Norman Swank of Kendall, and Arlin and wife Connie Swank of Raton, N.M.; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Billy Bob Burrows; and two sisters, Lorraine Swank and Charlene Swank.

Funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City. Burial will follow at Lakin Cemetery in Lakin.
