Steve Wells

MARIENTHAL — Steve A. "Poppa" Wells, 55, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, following a short illness.

He was born Oct. 10, 1957, in Scott City, to Edd and Shirley Downs Wells. He graduated from Wichita County High School in 1976.

Mr. Wells was a custom harvester, farmer and rancher.

On Dec. 27, 1975, he married Jean Simon in Leoti. She survives. Other survivors include two children, Jason Wells and Chandra Hughes, both of Leoti; four grandchildren; and three brothers, Craig Wells of Garden City, Dennis Wells of Maryville, Wash., and Tim Wells of Vacaville, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marienthal. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Marienthal.

Visitation hours are noon to 8 p.m. today and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti. Condolences may be sent at www.priceandsons.com. Memorials are suggested to Leoti Emergency Medical Services or Wichita County Amusement Association, both in care of the funeral home.
