JOHNSON CITY — Guy Wesley Rorick, 92, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at The Bridge in Alamosa, Colo.
He was born Nov. 20, 1920, on the Rorick homestead southwest of Manter, to Wesley David and Vera June Fleming Rorick. In 1939, he graduated from high school in Johnson City.
On March 16, 1941, he married Yvonne "Snooky" York in Johnson City.
A cattleman and farmer, Mr. Rorick also bred and raced thoroughbred horses throughout seven states for many years. A former resident of Rocky Ford, Swink, La Junta and Alamosa, Colo., he had resided in La Veta, Colo., since 1978.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Marsha Jacquart and husband Robin of La Junta, Sally Martin and husband Larry of Garden City, and Shawn Brack and husband John of McCracken; a son, Shane Rorick and wife Audra of South Fork, Colo.; a sister, Oleta Ward of Eustis, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Don Rorick; a granddaughter, Lana Melane Rorick; a sister, Hazel Gay; an infant sister, Velma Pearl; and an infant brother, Eldon Harold.
Funeral will begin at 1 p.m. MT Monday at Cuchara Christian Chapel in La Veta. Graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson City.
