Charles Hannagan


LAKIN — Charles J. Hannagan, 82, of Lakin, died Thursday, March 28, 2013, at High Plains Retirement Village Assisted Living in Lakin.

He was born July 31, 1930, in Manhattan, to Cecil Joseph and Evelyn Lytle Hannagan.

After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Hannagan moved to Lakin. He worked for 38 years for Colorado Interstate Gas Co., where he retired as a well dispatcher in 1991. He also made a living as a farmer and stockman.

In September 1952, he married Louise Holmes in Lakin. She survives. Other survivors include five children, Nancyle Hannagan of Johnston, Iowa, Dorita Coen and husband Robert of Plano, Texas, Jon Hannagan and wife Marilyn of Johnston, Lynn Unruh and husband Daryl of Cimarron, and Mark Hannagan and wife DonaKay of Socorro, N.M.; a brother, Pat Hannagan of Houston; a sister, Jane Aldridge and husband Gary of Lakin; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Paul Hannagan; and a sister, Patty Hannagan.

Vigil service and rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lakin. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will follow at Lakin Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted.

Visitation hours are 3 to 8 p.m. today and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin. Condolences may be emailed to Memorials are suggested to St. Anthony Catholic Church, in care of the funeral home, 508 N. Main St., Lakin, KS 67860.
