Jose Antonio H. Rodriguez, 49, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018, at the Kearny County Hospital in Lakin.

He was born Nov. 29, 1969, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Joseph “Sony” and Susanna (Hernandez) Rodriguez.

He married Monica Hernandez on Sept. 2, 2009, in Big Spring, Texas.

He graduated from Deerfield High School in 1988. He worked various jobs throughout his life, but primarily worked as a counselor for Area Mental Health. He enjoyed working on cars, reading, puzzles, watching sports, and was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan.

He is survived by three children, Roger Hernandez, Marcus Rodriguez and Adrianna Rodriguez, all of Garden City; his mother, Susanna Rodriguez of Deerfield; two brothers, Francisco Rodriguez and Jonathon Rodriguez, both of Deerfield; and two sisters, Augustina Leal of Dodge City and Lorie Gottfried of Edmond, Okla.. Jose Antonio is preceded in death by his father Joseph “Sony” Rodriguez.

A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lakin. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3 also at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lakin. Burial will follow at the Deerfield Cemetery.
