MONTEZUMA - Irvin Eugene "Beefy" Marrs, 95, died Dec. 27, 2018, at Regent Care Center in The Woodlands, Texas.

He was born on Dec. 30, 1922, in Dodge City to Chester I. and Edith Susan (Brock) Marrs.

He graduated from Fowler High School in 1941. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He married Genevieve Bargar in Cimarron on April 12, 1944. She preceded him in death on May 15, 2010.

A longtime resident of Montezuma, he owned and operated the Marrs AG grocery store and the Orbit Inn Restaurant with his wife for years.

He is survived by two children, Dianna Walker of Houston, Texas, and Perrie Marrs of Port Aransas, Texas; two sisters, Pauline Golden of Tulsa, Okla., and Ella Mae Marrs of Greensburg; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Genevieve; son, Gary Marrs; six brothers, Roscoe, Leo Raymond, Danny Ray, Richard, Chester Lloyd and Lewis Marrs; and one grandson.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4 at Montezuma United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Montezuma. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3 at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Montezuma. Memorials are suggested to the Montezuma Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
