Miyoshi Keaton, 86, formally of Salina, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018, in Garden City.

She was born Nov. 18, 1932, in Mashima, Japan.

She worked for Hair Affaire Beauty Salon as a master hair designer for over 40 years. She was affectionately known as Mickie to many of her customers and friends. She was a supportive military wife during her husband’s 20 plus years of service in the U.S. Air Force. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was proud of her Japanese heritage and enjoyed sharing that culture with those around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Saburo Masuo and Kazel (Watanabe) Masuo.

Survivors include her husband, Vachel R. Keaton; a brother, Tetsuya Masuo; sisters, Kinue Ogata, Kiyoka Komatsu, Teruyo Inoue, and Hiromi Takayama; and a large family, both American and Japanese.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Memorial Cemetery, in Muskogee, Okla. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Dec. 31 at the Church of Christ in Garden City, where she was a member.
