LAKIN — Helen L. Kessler, 77, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at her home in Lakin.
She was born March 21, 1941, in Dodge City to Ralph and Ruth (Kendall) McCarty.
She married Lavern J. Kessler on April 7, 1959, in Lakin. He died on Aug. 1, 2008.
She graduated from Plains High School and then moved to Lakin after her marriage. She was a longtime cook for USD 215 in Lakin. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning and handiwork.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Larry Kessler; and a brother, Jim McCarty.
She is survived by four sons, Stanley and Sandra Kessler of Holcomb, Gary and Emily Kessler of Lakin, Ronny and Nancy Kessler of Lakin, and Justin Kessler of Lakin; a daughter, Mary and Terry Ginn of Trenton, Neb.; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Vigil service will be 7 p.m. Friday and funeral mass 1 p.m. Saturday, both at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lakin. Burial will be in Lakin Cemetery.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin.
