ULYSSES — Philip W. Phillips, 76, of Alamo, Texas, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, at Sunrise Senior Living in Frisco, Texas.

He was born Nov. 7, 1941, in Dodge City to Verlan Cecil and Geraldine Margaret (Gill) Phillips.

He grew up in Ulysses. In 1959, he graduated from Grant County Rural High School.

He married Jaynelle Wheeler on Aug. 24, 1963.

He was a licensed funeral director and embalmer and spent many years operating funeral homes in Ulysses, Johnson City and Hugoton, as well as operating a flower shop and monument company. He retired in September 1998.

Survivors include three sons, Philip J. Phillips of Owasso, Okla., Patrick Phillips of Blanchard, Okla., and Paul Phillips of Frisco; one sister, Mari Lisbeth Dobbins of Lawrence; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ann Lynn; his wife, Jaynelle Phillips; and two foster sisters, Jane Adams and Marilou Jarvis.

Rosary will be 7 p.m. Friday, and funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, both at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Ulysses. Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses.
