MONTEZUMA — Clayton Ferguson, 90, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018, at Bethel Home in Montezuma.

He was born Dec. 15, 1927, at his grandparents' farm in Gray County to Stephen Leroy "Roy" and Alice Gertrude (Anton) Ferguson.

He was a lifetime resident of Gray County. He graduated from Montezuma High School in1945. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in the fall of 1946, where he served in the Pacific Theatre. After his discharge, he joined the Army Air Force Reserve.

Clayton married Dena Barger on June 4, 1951. They moved briefly to California before returning to Montezuma.

He worked for Ferguson Farm Supply and farmed with his father. He later worked at Farmland Industry until his retirement in 1992.

He is survived by a son, Marc Ferguson of Montezuma; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Janet Ferguson; and a sister, Gloria Nelson.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery, Montezuma.

Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Montezuma.
