Raymond C. Hammond, Jr., 67, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

He was born April 20, 1951, in Pueblo, Colo.

He grew up in Johnson City, where he attended school and graduated from Stanton County High School in 1969. After graduating college, he moved to Garden City, where he has lived since.

On June 14, 1970, he married Linda J. Herron in Johnson City. She survives.

He worked as manager of Orscheln Farm & Home for 38 years, retiring in 2011. After his retirement, he worked as a substitute teacher for Garden City USD 457. He enjoyed traveling, driving and loved attending all of his grandchildren’s activities.

Additional survivors include four sons, Marvin and wife Dana Hammond of Liberal, Travis and wife Stephanie Hammond of Holcomb, Brandon and wife Delaina Hammond of Holcomb, and Darrin and wife Dava Hammond of Dighton; a brother, James Sims of Fort Worth, Texas; and eight grandchildren, Chayli Hammond, Cody Hammond, Kaitlynn Hammond, Kyle Hammond, Morgan Hammond, Beau Hammond, Laney Hammond and Makay Hammond.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond C. Hammond, Sr.; and a grandmother, Gladys Hammond.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

Visitation will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
