ELKHART — Dale Boicourt Coen, 96, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.
He was born Jan. 15, 1922, on the Coen homestead south and west of Rolla to Edgar and Rena Coen.
He attended both Rolla and Wilburton schools, graduating high school from Wilburton in 1940. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. After the war, he returned to Morton County and began farming with his father and brothers, eventually setting up his own farming operation.
He married Bonnie Barmore on Sept. 24, 1950. They farmed and raised registered Polled Hereford cattle and made their home on the family farm north of Wilburton. In the late 1980s, they retired and moved to Elkhart. She died in 1996.
Dale later married Opal Clampitt, who died in 2010.
Dale also was preceded in death by his brothers, Verl, Marion, Richard, Floyd and Lloyd; and a sister, Rena Marie.
He is survived by his son, Jay D of Elkhart; a brother, Ralph of Chickasha, Okla.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel, Elkhart. Burial will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery, Elkhart, with military rites by VFW Point Rock Post #3162.
