Armando P. DeLeon, 74, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, at his home in San Antonio, Texas.

He was born April 19, 1944, in Morrill, Neb., to Oliver and Ramona Pina DeLeon.

He met his wife, JoAnn, in 1977 in Leoti. They moved from Leoti to Liberal, then to Pueblo, Colo. In 1983, they moved to King City, Calif., where he opened his own auto body shop, DeLeon Body and Paint. In 2001, they moved to San Antonio.

In addition to his wife, JoAnn, survivors include his stepmother, Cruz DeLeon of Garden City; his children, Gloria Gloria, Virginia Vargas, Armando DeLeon Jr., John DeLeon, Ramona DeLeon and Faustin DeLeon, all of San Antonio; his siblings, Janie Rodriquez (Sisto) and Jim DeLeon (Deana), all of Ulysses, Carol Carillo (Oscar), Robert DeLeon (Delma), Connie Hernandez (Feliciano) and Cruz Lauber (Travis), all of Garden City, Oliver DeLeon (Natalia) of Tucson, Ariz., Alex DeLeon of Kuwait, Susie Baker (Tracy) of Sedan, and Fidel Tirado of Santa Cruz, Calif.; his cousins raised as siblings, Cirildo Bocanegra (Juana) of Denton, Texas, Sam Bocanegra (Margaret) of Leoti, Joe Hernandez (Liz) of Summerville, S.C., Irene Hernandez of Irving, Texas, Roger Hernandez (Maria) of North Carolina, Mario Hernandez (Cindy) of Chickasha, Okla., and Alejandra Marinez (Xavier) of Dodge City; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oliver DeLeon; his mother, Ramona Tirado; two brothers, Ron Tirado and Gilbert Hernandez; a sister, Josie Garcia; and a sister-in-law, Lilia DeLeon.

A memorial service will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. today in the chapel at Garden Valley Retirement Village, Garden City. A second memorial service is planned at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Northside Community Church, 1404 West Ave., San Antonio.
