Johnnie Truman Schwindt, 86, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, at The Cottages in Garden City.

He was born Jan. 7, 1932, in Leoti, to Herman H. and Olive O. Sowers Schwindt.

He owned and operated many businesses in southwest Kansas, including a flower shop and several Daylight Dounuts shops.

On May 22, 1955, he married Shirley Jo Humble in Leoti. She survives.

Additional survivors include three children, Deborah and Tom Thompson of Ulysses, Rick Schwindt of Garden City, and Stacey and Jackie Schwindt of Garden City; four sisters, Lou Jay and Paul Unruh of Great Bend, Rosie Longfellow of Topeka, Estella and Terry Wells of Arizona, and Christine Schwindt of Liverpool, New York; nine grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry Schwindt; and one great-granddaughter, Faith.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Garden City Nazarene Church. Interment will follow at the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Price and Sons Funeral Home, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
