Jose J. Lopez, 65, died Wednesday, June 27, 2018, in Garden City.
He was born July 1, 1952, in El Tablero, Jalisco, Mexico, to Rodrigo and Juanita Macias Lopez.
A Garden City resident since 1974, Mr. Lopez worked for many years at Farmland. He later worked for many years and retired from Brookover South as a farm hand. He enjoyed raising his farm animals.
In 1972, he married Martha Solis in Durango, Mexico. She died April 1, 2002. He also was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include a son, Tony Lopez of Wichita; a daughter, Lily Lopez of Wichita; his mother, Juanita Lopez of Mexico; three brothers, Rafael Lopez and Raul Lopez, both of Garden City, and Miguel Lopez of Los Angeles; three sisters, Teresa Lopez, Lupe Rodriguez and Antonia Lopez, all of Mexico; his companion, Mary Orozco of Garden City; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A rosary will begin at 7 p.m. today at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
