DIGHTON — Harriet M. Lewis, 86, of Dighton, died Sunday, June 10, 2018, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. 

She was born Sept. 29, 1931, in Beeler, to Karl and Maude Thomas Knauf. She graduated from Beeler High School.

On June 9, 1950, she married Lyle E. Lewis in Kansas City, Kan. When they returned from Kansas City to Dighton, she worked at several businesses, including Frigid Crème and Dart-In, cleaned houses, was an interior painter and was most known as the cook at Dighton Bowl.

Mrs. Lewis enjoyed bowling, puzzles, her flower garden, her KU collection, cheering on the Jayhawks and spoiling her grandchildren. 

Her husband died Nov. 1, 2011. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Darin Lee Lewis; three sisters, Edna Lomax, Essie Ann Tyler and Esther Sculley; and two brothers, Johnny Knauf and Derry Knauf.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Lewis of Kansas City, Mo., and Bentz Lewis of Dighton; two daughters, Denise Kobler of Topeka, and Reba Bayuk of WaKeeney; a brother, Jerry Knauf of Rozel; nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Dighton. Burial will be at Dighton Memorial Cemetery.
