ULYSSES — Soledad Flores de Mendoza, 80, of Ulysses, died Friday, June 1, 2018, at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita.

She was born Nov. 6, 1937, in Julimes, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Nicacio and Andrea Pando Flores.

Mrs. Mendoza had been a resident of Ulysses for 20 years.

On Jan. 29, 1958, she married Emilio Mendoza in Julimes. He survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Abilia Mendoza of Meoqui, Chihuahua, Armida Mendoza and Esperanza Porras, both of Ulysses, and Socorro Lara of Sweet Water, Texas; two brothers, Jose Flores of Julimes, and Adan Flores of Oklahoma City; a sister, Socorro Lerma of Anthony, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Baltazar Flores.

Vigil and rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Ulysses. Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will follow at Ulysses Cemetery.
