JOHNSON CITY — Virginia Amerin, 87, died Monday, May 28, 2018, in Johnson City.
She was born April 5, 1931, in Sterling, Colo., to John and Anna Ertle Gertner. She graduated from Padroni High School in Sterling.
On Nov. 28, 1950, she married Ralph Amerin in Sterling. They moved to Stanton County in 1954.
A homemaker, Mrs. Amerin also helped on the farm, moving pipe, driving a truck and preparing many meals during harvest time.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph; five children, Kathy Lippert of Wamego, and Jim Amerin, Cheryl Wilkerson, Carol Garrison and Bill Amerin, all of Johnson City; three brothers, Ben Gertner, Glenn Gertner and Lawrence Gertner, all of Sterling; four sisters, Clara Marie of Sterling, Sister Leanetta Gertner of Wisconsin, Margaret Claplin of Denver, and Josephine Amerin of Plains; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Dave, Mark, John and Donnie; and a sister, Anna Mary.
Vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Johnson City. Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will follow at Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson City.
Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson City.
