Sanford Norton, 88, of Scott City, KS, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018, at Tallgrass Creek in Overland Park, KS. At his request, no services will be held.
Sandy was born March 13, 1930, in Garden City, KS, to Eardie and Anna Norton, one of nine children. His childhood was spent working on the family beet farm until his graduation from Holcomb High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was stationed at both Fort Ord in California and at the Panama Canal.
Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to western Kansas and began a career at the local gas plant, retiring from Cities Service in 1993. He loved his family, camping, fishing and being with friends. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Starrett Norton; his parents, Eardie and Anna Norton; and his daughter, Debbra Ann Wilson.
His legacy to his family are the fond memories of his mischievous smile, the twinkle in his eye and the true meaning of being a good man.
