KENDALL — Cynthia Denise Marvin Akers, 60, of Kendall, died Monday, May 21, 2018, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
She was born Oct. 21, 1957, in Kokomo, Ind., to Dr. Norman and Audine Willard Marvin. She graduated from Syracuse High School in 1975.
On Aug. 11, 1979, she married Mark Kent Akers in Kansas City, Mo.
Mrs. Akers worked in the medical field for all of her adult life as a nurse for various doctors and was a surgical registered nurse for Dr. Ray Kenoyer until she was forced to retire due to her health. She was the administrator of Hamilton County Hospital and was the director of nursing at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital. She also helped her husband in their farming operation.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Kent Akers of Kendall; a son, Scott Akers of Marion; a daughter, Jessica Akers of Ulysses; her parents, Dr. Norman and Audine Marvin of Atlanta; a brother, John Marvin of Houston; two sisters, Pam Griffith of Atlanta, and Kim Mann of Prairie Village; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. MDT Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Syracuse. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
