MEADE — Leona Maxine DeLissa, 83, of Meade, died Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.
She was born Jan. 17, 1935, in Scott City, to Verla Jay and Zella Leona Adams Bishop. She graduated from Wichita County High School in Leoti in 1953.
On Feb. 14, 1954, she married Leonard A. “Gus” DeLissa in Leoti. They lived in Leoti, Johnson City and Lakin until moving to Meade in 1978. They purchased DeLissa Ford, where she worked as a bookkeeper and parts person.
Her husband died Sept. 30, 2010. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jim and Vern J. Bishop; a sister, Mary Cantrell; and a stepbrother, Max Bishop.
Survivors include a son, Lance DeLissa of Meade; a daughter, Janna DeLissa of Leoti; a half sister, Twila Hartz of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a half brother, Carl Bishop of Palm Desert, Calif.; three grandsons; a great-grandson; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
A public reception for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Meade Estates. A memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Meade. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
