Karen Whatley, 50, died Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at her home in Garden City. 

She was born June 16, 1967, in Garden City, to Floyd F. and Maria Jimenez Whatley. She graduated from Garden City High School in 1986.

A lifetime Garden City resident, she was a caregiver and had worked at Community Day Care, St. Catherine Hospital Day Care, All Saints, Dillons and Payroll Plus.

Survivors include her parents, Floyd and Maria Whatley of Garden City; two brothers, David and Theresa Whatley of Deerfield, and Floyd Whatley, Jr. of Garden City; three sisters, Rose Ann and Calvin Kopp, and Jessica and Samuel Fonseca of Garden City, and Yolanda and Dallas Scisney of Deerfield; nieces and nephews including Cassandra, Peggy, Robert and Raymond; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ignacio and Blanche Jimenez, Margaret Mata and Kenneth Whatley.

Funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. 

Visitation hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City.
