HUGOTON — Darrell Dean “Pete” Hickey, 85, of Hugoton, died Sunday, May 6, 2018, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.
He was born Nov. 12, 1932, in rural Meade County, to William Henry and Florence Irene Miller Hickey. He graduated from Liberal High School in 1951.
A resident of Hugoton since 1970, Mr. Hickey worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline from 1970 until retiring in 1993. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
On Aug. 17, 1953, he married Belva Mae Freeman. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Don Hickey of Amarillo, Texas, and Larry Hickey of Hugoton; a sister, June Helm of Liberal; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Lloyd; two sisters, Virginia and Marjorie; and a daughter, Linda Lea Hickey Moser.
A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church in Hugoton. A family burial will be at Hugoton Cemetery, with military rites conducted.
Visitation hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton.
