DIGHTON — Kay Ruth, 73, died Friday, April 27, 2018, at Scott County Hospital in Scott City.

She was born Oct. 10, 1944, in Ness City to Jake and Bessie Etta (Brown) Helzer.

She graduated from Dighton High School in 1963. She spent most of her adult life in Scott City and recently moved to Dighton. She was a dispatcher for the Scott County Sheriff Office for more than 15 years, worked at Long’s 96 Repair, was a CNA at Park Lane Nursing Home and currently was providing In Home Care for the elderly.

She enjoyed scrapbooking, pictures, quilting and especially going to her grandchildren’s ballgames.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Ruth of Scott City and Paul Ruth of McPherson; two brothers, Larry Helzer of Winfield and Jerry Helzer of Newalla, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Norman Lee Ruth.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Dighton. Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Monday at Boomhower Funeral Home in Dighton.
