LAKIN — Fredrick H. Burns, 72, of Lakin, died Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin.

He was born June 23, 1945, in Russellville, Ark., to Fredrick Robert and Edna Morrison Burns.

Mr. Burns had worked for most of his life as a golf professional and groundskeeper in California and Kansas before retiring.

Survivors include a son, Joshua Burns of Albany, Vt.; two daughters, Amberlee Hernandez of Lakin, and Shelly Montoya of Paso Robles, Calif.; three brothers, Marvin Burns of Arizona, George Burns of Lakin, and Tom Burns of Garden City; three sisters, Louise Burns of Texas, and Nancy Peters and Freda Ferrel, both of Ulysses; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenny Burns; two former wives, Joyce Mendibles and Patricia Sartelle; four brothers, Harold Burns, John Burns, Dan Burns and Frank Burns; and a sister, Belle Detwiller.

Graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Lakin Cemetery.

Visitation hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City and 6 to 8 p.m. at Lakin Assembly of God Church.
