UTICA — Lon Ray Borell, 57, died Friday, March 30, 2018, at his home in Utica. 

He was born June 28, 1960, in Garden City, to Loren E. and Ruth Marie Frimmel Borell. He graduated from Healy High School in 1978.

On June 6, 1980, he married Linda Ann Muffitt Schaben. On Nov. 29, 1986, he married Vicky Lynn Adams Yates in Lane County.

Mr. Borell worked for Farmers Co-Op in Dighton for five years before returning to the family farm. While farming, he also worked the wet corn grinding for DKS Dozing and Wick Grain. He continued to farm after he and his wife opened Vic’s Short Branch Saloon in Utica in 1999, and he had been running it since 2008. 

Survivors include his wife, Vicky Lynn Borell of the home; a daughter, Dennille Adessa Borell (Steven Shull) of Utica; two stepsons, Tyce Yates (Sonja) of Winfield, and Lancer Yates (Misty) of Haven; his mother, Ruth Marie Borell of Dorrance; a brother, Von Lee Borell (Denise) of Dighton; a sister, Cindy Borell of Dodge City; a grandson, Aiden Shull; five stepgrandchildren, Jesse Ellsworth, Seaira Slaton, Bryce Slaton, Kylea Slaton and Andrew Clayton Yates; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Dighton. Burial will be at Dighton Memorial Cemetery. 

Visitation hours are noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Boomhower Funeral Home in Dighton.
