ELKHART — Abner Delay, 81, died Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at his home in Elkhart. 

He was born July 5, 1936, in Elkhart, to Guy W. and Lola M. Kerns Delay. He graduated from Elkhart High School in 1955.

Mr. Delay was a lifetime resident and farmer in Morton County.   

On July 31, 1955, he married Janiese Martin in Elkhart. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Lyle Delay of Shosoni, Wyo., and Leland Delay of Johnson City; two daughters, Laura Grimes of Johnson City, and Lisa Thomas of Richfield; a sister, Lorene White of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Lonnie Delay; a brother, Wilmer “Dee” Delay; and two sisters, Myrna Johnson and Betty Ellis.

Funeral will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Elkhart. Burial will follow at Elkhart Cemetery.
