ULYSSES — Blanca Estela Ibarra, 63, of Ulysses, died Thursday, March 8, 2018, in rural Grant County. 

She was born May 2, 1954, in Guadalupe, Zacatecas, Mexico, to Salvador D. and Maria Guadalupe Torres Sosa.

On Feb. 15, 1974, she married Jose A. Ibarra in Guadalupe.

A Ulysses resident since 1973, Mrs. Ibarra worked as a janitor in the maintenance department at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church for years and also was employed at High Plains Educational Cooperative.

Survivors include two sons, Antonio S. Ibarra of Ulysses, and Jose “Pepe” Ibarra Jr. of Lawrence; a daughter, Elizabeth Contreras of Sandusky, Ohio; three grandchildren; three brothers, Johnny Sosa and Marco A. Sosa, both of Ulysses, and Salvador Sosa of Liberal; and four sisters, Gloria Hernandez, Margarita Sosa and Josephine Taul, all of Ulysses, and Amalia Harris of Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Margarita Limon; and two brothers, Roberto Sosa and Juan Sosa.

Rosary and vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses. Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the church. 

Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
