DEERFIELD — Amelia Urteaga, 81 , died Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
She was born May 26, 1936, in Paintrock, Texas, to Gonzalo and Epimenia (Sanchez) Hernandez.
She was raised in Texas. On Nov. 27, 1949, she married Arturo M. Urteaga in Menard, Texas. In 1965, they relocated to Lakin and later to Deerfield, where they would raise their children.
Employment included working in housekeeping at Kearny County Hospital for six years.
Survivors include three sons, Jesse Urteaga of Amarillo, Texas, Gilbert Urteaga of Lakin, and Robert Urteaga of Amarillo; three daughters, Loisa Oropeza of Lakin, Katie Limon of Satanta, and Gracie Leo Munoz of Deerfield; a brother, Brother Juan Hernandez of Deerfield; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Rosa Ramon, Nicanor Hernandez, Rafael Hernandez, Eduardo Hernandez, Gonzalo Hernandez, Santos Hernandez and Mauricio Hernandez.
An evening service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at Lakin Assembly of God Church in Lakin. A Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Lakin Assembly of God. Burial will follow at Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield.
Visitation will be 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin.
