COPELAND — Teresa "Teddie" Mata, 68, died Friday, March 2, 2018, at her home in Copeland.
She was born July 23, 1949, in Sinton, Texas, to Juan and Petra Zamarripas Montemayor.
On Jan. 6, 1967, she married Trinidad Mata in Waxahachie, Texas.
A Copeland resident since 1973, Mrs. Mata began working for USD 476 in Copeland in 1991 as the food service director. She retired in 2015.
Survivors include her husband, of Copeland; eight children, Trinidad Mata Jr., Juanita Mata and Breanna Mata, all of Copeland, Freddy Mata of Sublette, Lori Giesick of Okene, Okla., Jamie Berry of Garden City, Jason Mata of Dodge City, and Curtis Mata of Pratt; three brothers, Jose and Santos, both of Ennis, Texas, and Chris of Sublette; five sisters, Gloria Garcia of Houston, Rafaella Mata and Mary Montemayor, both of Ennis, Alicia Escobar of Sublette, and Irma Cruz of Corpus Christi, Texas; 21 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter.
Vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Satanta. Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow at Copeland Cemetery.
