Karen Sue Unruh, 79, of Hutchinson, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018.
She was born June 8, 1938, in Dodge City, to Andrew Hubert and Nellie Fae Redfield Elland. She graduated from Garden City High School in 1956 and from Emporia State University in 1960.
A homemaker, Mrs. Unruh was a music teacher for three years. She was a member of Grace Bible Church at Hutchinson, a 54-year member of Hutchinson Sweet Adelines, and had been a YMCA water aerobics instructor and leader for more than 30 years.
On Aug. 7, 1960, she married Donald Lee Unruh in Garden City. He survives. Other survivors are three sons, Michael Unruh of Overland Park, Gary and wife Stacie Unruh of Overland Park, and Greg Unruh of Kansas City; a brother, James Elland and wife Beth of Denver; nine grandchildren; five nieces; and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Bible Church, 1221 E. 33rd Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Chuck Lambert presiding. Private family inurnment will be at Bucklin Cemetery at a later date.
Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson, with family greeting from 1 p.m. to service time Tuesday at the church.
