Glenna Maurine Breitenbach Firner, 92, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at Greeley County Long Term Care in Tribune. 

She was born Feb. 19, 1925, in Macksville, to Peter A. and Glenna F. Noble Breitenbach. She graduated from high school in Belpre in 1942.

While attending the University of Kansas, she worked as a vocalist for WREN radio station in Lawrence. She later worked for Jenkin’s Music Co., in Kansas City. 

On June 8, 1947, she married Henry William “Bill” Firner in Lawrence. They moved to Tribune in 1954. 

A homemaker, Mrs. Firner was a member of St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church in Tribune, VFW Auxiliary, a past president of DCCW, Sigma Kappa sorority and served as social chairperson, Garden City Community College Community Theatre, Community Theatre of Tribune, and was a benefactor, supporter and fan of the University of Kansas. She enjoyed dancing, singing, attending community theatre, her cats, and riding her bicycle and riding horses.

Survivors include six children and their spouses, Rick and Stephanie Firner of Wichita, Sonya and Jim Garwood of Clyde, Robert and Linda Firner of Tribune, Renee and Doug Bergman of Olathe, Antoni and Connie Firner of Belton, Mo., and Angela and Bud Tyroler of Topeka; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two nieces, Francie Firner Stoner and De De Breitenbach Alcaraz; and a nephew, David Breitenbach.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, who died Oct. 27, 2004; her parents; a sister, Elaine Lytle; a brother, Malloy Breitenbach; and two grandchildren.

A vigil service and rosary will begin at 7 p.m. MST Friday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Tribune. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. MST Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at Greeley County Cemetery. 

Visitation hours are 3 to 7 p.m. MST Friday at the church.
