Russell Franklin Freeman, 83, died on December 23, 2017, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas.
He was born on December 19, 1934, in Seminole, Okla., the son of Claud Napoleon and Freda Cathy Freeman.
Russell enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, traveling, spending time with his family, and loved making others laugh with his stories and jokes. He also enjoyed playing scrabble with his kids and grandkids. Russell owned a successful business for many years, and enjoyed going to his office everyday.
He was a Garden City resident since 1982 having moved from Great Bend, Kansas. He was a member of the Christian faith and the Elks lodge.
On October 25, 1954 he married Jo Ella Jackson in Ada, Oklahoma. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Paula Crook and Brenda Freeman, both of Garden City, one son, Vic (Shelly) Freeman of Garden City.
He also is survived by six grandchildren, Corey & Heather Elliott of Thornton, Colorado, Joshua Kidd, Kaylee Kidd, and Tanner Freeman of Garden City, Kansas, Tyler Freeman of Lawrence, Kansas, and Tara and Jon Ail of Castle Rock, Colo.; five siblings, Louie, Jimmy and Johnny Freeman, all of Oklahoma, Benny Freeman of Arkansas and Lucille Gravlee of Enid, Okla., and three great grandchildren.
There will be no calling times. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
