HUGOTON — Gary L. Baker, 79, of Hugoton, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
He was born Sept. 7, 1938, in El Reno, Okla., to Carl and Iva Frisby Baker. He attended school in Holcomb.
A resident of Ulysses before moving to Hugoton, Mr. Baker started a water meter business there, as well as owning a business as a water rights consultant.
In 2007, he married Celain Moore Day. She survives.
Other survivors include three children, Mike Baker of Weatherford, Texas, Mark Baker of Valdosta, Ga., and Michelle Baker of Seattle; eight grandchildren; six stepsons, Cody, Cail, Cam and Case Day, all of Elk City, Okla., Christian Beauchamp of Belgrade, Mont., and Nicolas Beauchamp of Olathe; four great-grandchildren; and his twin sisters, Jane Rupp of Norman, Okla., and Janice Sim of Leawood.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Satterfield.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Dec. 9 at the United Methodist Church in Hugoton.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the memorial fund at the United Methodist Church or Pioneer Manor, both at Hugoton.
