Robert Dean Morris, 88, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, in Lewisville, Texas.

He was born Feb. 11, 1929, to Robert and Bernita Webb Morris. He attended school in Gravette, Ark., and later in Kalvesta.

On March 16, 1950, he married Geneva Marie Hall in Bristol, Okla.

Mr. Morris had lived most of his adult life in the Garden City area. He cut meat for several stores in Garden City and later worked for The Rodeo Meat Co. He retired as an operator for the Kansas-Nebraska Natural Gas Co. compressor station in Holcomb.

A devout Christian, he was a member of Church of the Nazarene. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed a lifelong interest in horses. His greatest passion was his love and devotion to his wife and family. Spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brought him his greatest joy.

Survivors include three children, Chris (Jeanna) Morris of Wichita, Colleen (Felix) Banas of Lewisville, and David Morris of Garden City; seven grandchildren, Corey Gates, Scott Banas, Deanna Theis, Casey (Donnie) Johnson, Carady (Lalo) Holguin, Jill Banas and Davin (Chelsea) Morris; 10 great-grandchildren, Alexis Theis, Zandria Theis, Jordan Harmon, Braden Harmon, Kennedy Johnson, Olivia Holguin, Hudson Holguin, Abram Morris, Cael Johnson and Piper Morris; two brothers, Virgil (Jean) Morris and Jim (Jean) Morris; and two sisters, Shari (Dennis) Massion and Nita Killman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geneva; a daughter, Judy Gates; two brothers, Neil Morris and Boyd Morris; and a sister, Maureen Main.

A memorial service will be held in Lewisville at a later date. The family also will conduct a double memorial service for Robert and his late wife, Geneva, in Garden City at a later date.
