DIGHTON — Eloise Mae Thomas, 86, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017 at her home in Dighton.

She was born Sept. 28, 1930, in rural Rose Hill to Earl and Esther Hall Showalter.

She married Marion Tracy Thomas on Aug. 18, 1949. They moved to Dighton in 1953.

She was a dedicated parent volunteer for many school functions. She was a long-standing member of the As You Like It Club, participated in the TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) organization and enjoyed spending time with her Prairie Rose Red Hat friends. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, where she served in the women’s ministry.

She enjoyed tending to her gardens at home and on their farm, reading, working crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and sports on TV. She was a skilled cook and enjoyed traveling and watching her grandchildren participate in school activities.

She is survived by four children, Rebecca Stormont (Marc), Randall Thomas (Millie), Rodney Thomas and Richard Thomas; eight grandchildren, Lauri Sanders (Justin), Brenda Seliskar (Jason), Erin Vargas, Stacey Heckathorne (Ryan), Lariessa Garcia, Zachary Thomas, Marcy Thomas and Trevor Thomas; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Russell Earl Thomas; and infant daughter, Rachelle Marie Thomas; a brother, Donald Showalter; a sister, Carolyn Sheets; and a granddaughter, Jessica Thomas Scott.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 24 at the United Methodist Church in Dighton. Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery.
