MONTEZUMA — Charles Duane Johnson, 89, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at Bethel Home in Montezuma.
He was born Dec. 20, 1927, to Herman and Mary Holdeman Johnson in Medina County, Ohio.
On April 1, 1951, he married Mildren Koehn.
He lived in Ohio, Louisiana, California and Wisconsin before moving to Bethel Home in Montezuma in July 2014.
He was welder and worked with metal.
He is survived by his wife, Milly; eight children, Mary Friesen of Muleshoe, Texas, Lester Johnson of Cumberland, Wis., Gilbert Johnson of Almena, Wis., David Johnson of Kings Mountain, Ky., Joyce Reimer of Leoville, Saskatchewan, Renetta Koehn of Almena, Shirley Nightingale of Ulysses, and Rayanne Copp of Iroquois, S.D.; 28 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Chester and Richard Johnson; and three sisters, Theda Dyck, Thelma Koehn and Roberta Nikkel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Gospel Mennonite Church in Almena, Wis. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Comstock, Wis.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Bethel Home in Montezuma.
