MONTEZUMA — Carl L. Love, 93, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at Bethel Home in Montezuma.

He was born June 21, 1924, in Reece, to Ira C. and Frances Gentry Love. After graduating from high school in Hamilton, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Love taught from 1951 to 1964 in Stafford, Sublette, Cimarron and Montezuma, teaching math, chemistry, science, art and sixth grade. He also was a farmer, retiring in 1980, and owned rental properties. 

On Sept. 2, 1949, he married Marilyn Thomas in Montezuma. She died Dec. 13, 1983. He also was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.

Survivors include four sons, Dan Love of Dodge City, Jim Love of Manhattan, Greg Love of Montezuma, and Bryan Love of Garden City; a brother, Leonard Love of Sparta, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Morningside Church in Montezuma. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Montezuma.

Visitation hours are noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Montezuma.
