DIGHTON — Lynn Dale “Dink” Hubin, 86, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, at his home in Dighton. 

He was born May 24, 1931, in Hodgeman County, to Albert Otto and Ruth Daisy Salmans Hubin. He graduated from Hanston High School.

A Dighton resident since 1959, Mr. Hubin began work for Lane-Scott Electric, where he spent the rest of his working career and retired as the line superintendent. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

In his earlier years he was a catcher on fast pitch softball teams and enjoyed rock hunting, playing musical instruments and being a camp supervisor on Boy Scout trips. He served many years on the Legion Honor Guard for funerals, and for more than 34 years, placed crosses on veterans' graves for Memorial Day at Dighton Memorial Cemetery.

On Oct. 5, 1954, he married Ruth May Thurston in Hanston. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Colleen Lewis and husban Bruce of Dighton; two sons, Joe Hubin and wife Vicki of Dighton, and Pete Hubin and wife Diana of Wichita; a sister, Darlene Burkhart of Hanston; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul and Neldon Hubin; and a sister, Shirley Hubin.

Funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Dighton. Burial will be at Dighton Memorial Cemetery, with military honors conducted.
