Gregory J. “Greg” Hands, 66, died Friday, July 28, 2017, in Finney County.

He was born Oct. 15, 1950, in Garden City to S. Fielding and L. Jean Recknor Hands.

He married Peggy J. Pitts on June 6, 1971, in Garden City.

He graduated from Garden City High School in 1968. He earned his bachelor's of science in agriculture economics from Kansas State University in 1972. After finishing college, he returned to the family farm in Finney County as a partner in Triangle H.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Garden City, vice president of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, and had been state president of the Future Farmers of America, chairman of the Garden City Co-op Board of Directors, and a member of Farm Bureau and several other agricultural organizations.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling with his wife on cruises and foreign country tours and attending K-State activities.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy J. Hands of the home; two sons, Trevor Hands and wife Jenny, Tyler Hands and wife Amanda, both of Garden City; a daughter, Tiffany Stockebrand and husband Craig of Salina; his father, of Garden City; two brothers, Samuel Hands and wife Janet, and Cedric Hands and wife Karen, both of Garden City; and five granddaughters, Macy Hands, Gentry Hands, Lainey Hands, Tabor Stockebrand and Payton Stockebrand.

He was preceded in death by his mother and infant sister.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Casual or K-State attire is encouraged by the family.

Visitation, with the family present, will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
