Mary Jo Hedges nee Near, age 81, of Mokena and previously of New Lenox, Ill., passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2012.

Beloved wife of the late William; loving mother of the late Alan Jon and his wife Dorothy, Chris and his wife Kari, and Sue and her husband Steve Rogers; cherished grandmother of Regina, Kristin, Benjamin, Ashley, Rebecca, Jane and Lucy; great-grandmother of Ryan; and dear sister of the late Dorothy Lee and her husband Lloyd Garrison. Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Bertha Near.

Family received friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Road, New Lenox, IL 60451 on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral service was 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Interment at Maplewood Cemetery, New Lenox, IL.

Memorial donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation are appreciated.
