Jorge R. "George" Rodriguez, 30, a former Garden City resident, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, in San Francisco.
He was born July 28, 1981, in Yuma, Ariz. He graduated from Garden City High School, Garden City Community College and Washburn University. While attending school, he was an active member of several dance groups and involved in several community organizations.
Mr. Rodriguez later moved to San Francisco and started his own jewelry business, Georgeeous Rodri.
Survivors include his parents, Manuel and Rebeca Rodriguez; four brothers, Manuel, Francisco, Ramon and Jose Luis Rodriguez; three sisters, Juana Rodriguez, Sandra Rodriguez and Sally Caro; 11 nieces; five nephews; and seven great-nieces and great-nephews.
A rosary and wake were held Jan. 21 at Desert Valley Mortuary in Somerton, Ariz.

Yo conosi a Jorge en el Colegio de Garden City, el fue unos de los fundadores de Latin Heat y era un miembro de HALO (Hispanic American Leadership Organization). El era muy bueno para el baile, siempre muy respetuoso y amable. Pasava a mi oficina y siempre decia "buenos dias Mela" Siento mucho que una persona come el ya no este entre nosotros. Yo lo apreciava mucho y mis mas sentidos pesames para toda su familia y amistades. Que Dios los vendiga y les de fuerza para sobrevivir todo este dolor que han de sentir. El vivira en cada uno de nosotros de una manera muy especial.

I just wanted to say how privlaged I was to be able to work with Jorge at Target in Garden City. He was such a sweet heart. A very Caring guy! My sympothy goes out to all the family and friends!
