Letha Brogan Herndon

SYRACUSE — Letha Ellis Brogan Herndon, 89, of Syracuse, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at Hamilton County Hospital in Syracuse.

She was born July 19, 1922, in Syracuse, to Joseph Ruben and Katie Birdie Schroll Ellis. She graduated from Syracuse High School in 1940.

Mrs. Herndon worked for the Kansas Department Of Transportation until her retirement in May 1985.

In 1942, she married Charles Hanford Brogan in Syracuse. He preceded her in death. In 1979, she married Robert Ogden Herndon in Syracuse. He also preceded her in death as did her parents; two sons, Kevin and Jan Brogan; four brothers, Marion, Chester, Marvin and Darl Ellis; and two sisters, Neoma Christolear and Zelda Brown.

Survivors include a son, Shaun Brogan of Black Mountain, N.C.; a daughter, Shannon Brogan of Syracuse; and eight grandchildren.

A private family graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at Syracuse Cemetery.
