Delmas L. McKnight, 87, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Lakepoint Nursing Home in Wichita.

Delmas L. McKnight, 87, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Lakepoint Nursing Home in Wichita.

He was born July 22, 1925, in Butler County, to Forest and Furl Kinion McKnight.

On May 1, 1950, he married Melva Mary Grupe in Davenport, Iowa. They lived three miles northeast of Rose Hill. He continued working on the farm with his father, farming his own land and starting a dairy. He also ran the road grader for the township for many years.

Survivors include four children, Elaine Musgrove of Whitewood, S.D., Karla Coleman of Garden City, Daryl McKnight of Matthews, N.C., and Loren McKnight of Wichita; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, his wife and two sisters, Xelma Schaplowsky and Linda Wise.

Funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel in Augusta. Burial will follow at Dunlap Cemetery in Rose Hill.

Visitation hours are 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the family greeting friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
