Michael Calihan

Michael Terrance Calihan, 61, of Garden City, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita.

He was born May 22, 1950, in Topeka, to Ray H. Jr. and Harriet Roselle Yakle Calihan. He was a 1968 graduate of Garden City High School.

A Garden City resident for most of his life, Mr. Calihan was a carpenter-builder. During his career, he supervised the erection of several prominent structures in Garden City. He also was the proprietor of Calihan Liquor Store.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Ray H. "Pat" Jr. and Lillian Claire Calihan of Gold Canyon, Ariz.; three sisters, Catherine Sue Vincent of Elizabeth, Colo., Janice Lea Williams of Tempe, Ariz., and Boni Lynn Calihan of Wichita; a stepbrother, Rudy G. Valenzuela of Kansas City, Mo.; and a stepsister, Robin Lynn Valenzuela of Garden City. He was preceded in death by his mother.

Funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Presbyterian Church in Garden City. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

My Friend

LouAnn and I were saddened to here of Mike's passing. Our sympathy and prayers are with the Calihan family.

Mikey

Every year it was tradition for Mike to pop up to Lincoln NE in the spring, and play golf with myself and Dale Spoon. These were great times as we would always get dinner the night before, then lose gracefully at the tournament. He will be sorely missed.

GONE TOO SOON

From the days @ Red Baron Lounge, to Marlenski's Lounge, to working for Mike @ Calihan Liquor Store - - Mike was always a Fun, Easy going guy. He will be missed. My sisters & I will do a toast in your honor!!

Great Boss & Good Friend
