Louis Vasquez

Louis N. Vasquez, 88, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

He was born Jan. 15, 1924, to Florentino and Concha Navarez Vasquez, in Manzanola, Colo.

On Jan. 14, 1950, he married Helen B. Apodaca in Raton, N.M.

A resident of Garden City since 1970, Mr. Vasquez worked for the ACRA Plant in Garden City, retiring in 1984.

He was a very spiritual man, and he enjoyed gardening, carpentry and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 17 brothers and sisters; a great-grandson, James Dar Bitner; and a great-granddaughter, Aaliyah Flores.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Eddie Vasquez of Hutchinson and Terry Vasquez of Garden City; two daughters, Patricia Martinez of Northglenn Colo., and June Reyes of Garden City; one brother, Pete Vasquez of Ordway, Colo.; two sisters, Louise Synisski of La Junta, Colo., and Mollie Reyna of Missouri; 18 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City.

Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City.

Memorials may be given to the Louis Vasquez Memorial Fund, in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, 620 N. Main St., Garden City, KS 67846.
