Maria Meave

Maria Magdalena Castillo Meave, 61, of Garden City, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

She was born May 29, 1951, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Candelario and Tomasa Meave Castillo.

A Garden City resident since 2001, she worked in the processing department at Tyson Fresh Meats Inc., since 2002.

She married Bonifacio Villanueva in Mexico. He survives. Other survivors include four sons, Rogelio Villanueva Castillo of Garden City, Hector Manuel Villanueva Castillo and Jorge Omar Villanueva Castillo, both of Hays, and Carlos Adan Villanueva Castillo of Dallas; seven daughters, Maria del Socorro Villanueva Castillo, Ma Conzuelo Villanueva Castillo, Ana Maria Villanueva Castillo and Martha Elena Villanueva Castillo, all of San Luis Potosi, Mirna Villanueva Castillo of San Antonio, Texas, and Norma Cristina Villanueva Castillo and Selena Alejandra Villanueva Castillo, both of Garden City; her father, Candelario Castillo of San Luis Potosi; three brothers, Pablo Castillo Meave and Eliceo Castillo Meave, both of San Antonio, and Abraham Castillo Meave of San Luis Potosi; six sisters, Lucila, Candida, Elodia, Aucencia and Domitila Castillo Meave, all of San Luis Potosi, and Michaela Castillo Meave of Chicago; and 17 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and a brother, Crisoforo Castillo Meave.

Rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City. Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Visitation hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Condolences may be emailed to garnandfh@sbcglobal.net. Memorials to the Maria Magdalena Castillo Meave Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home, 412 N. Seventh St., Garden City, KS 67846.
